Pants
« on: Nov 12, 2018, 10:50 PM »
What's everyone wear for pants? I have a pair of water proof, insulated Cabelas pants that work great but are wearing out. I also have bibs but don't wear them unless it gets really cold.

Nothing fancy here, just a good base layer with waterproof snow pants. Exactly what I'd be wearing if I were skiing.

I have a couple pairs of LL Bean fleece lined jeans. Toasty warm. I got a Striker Predator set last year and the jeans ended up being a bit too warm. Half the time I had the vents on the bibs wide open.

Snowboard pants. Roomy, waterproof, plenty of pockets.

I used to wear pants, now I just stand out there in all my GLORY....just kidding the fish would think they found a mill worm haha. I wear my striker ice bibs. I used to layer up and wear all sorts of clothes trying to figure out the best. Now I wear some kind of base layer like under armor or sweat pants and my striker bibs. Best thing I have invested in for ice fishing besides a fish finder. Stiker clothing is pretty expensive, but I just got on ebay and waited for a good deal and stuff that was a little older.

Underwear, base layer, jeans, Guidewear Xtreme Late Season bibs.  Been shopping for a while for alternate pants to get that cotton out of the mix, but haven's landed on anything yet.  Plus I'm a tough size so selection is low.

I wear underarmorer underwear and running sweats then bibs, breaths and doesn't hold water against my shin should I get a bit wet.  I will carry jeans in the truck for the honey does on the way home.

Thanks for all the replies!
Just trying to find whats best to avoid bibs if possible ( until they are absolutely needed based on poor weather conditions). Been getting into the merino wool base layers, that stuff is great.

I'm actually moving towards bibs instead of regular ski pants as I'm tired of a cold lower back.

I used to layer up to go trapping or ice fishing , but 2 years ago my son bought me the striker predator bibs .......... Man I just slip them sucke4s on over my jeans and I'm good to good . Now I've bought the coat and my whole family a set . Sitting on a bucket in below zero weather is not a problem at all .
Before I layered up with Under Amor 3's and snow bibs , but would still get chilly . If a person can spare they coin I believe the strikers are well worth it .
Why do things today that can be put off till tomorrow, or next week???? Let's go Ice-fishing!!!!
