OK who is just waiting?
« on: Oct 28, 2018, 01:46 PM »
Good news today.
Temagami area woke up to a light snow cover this morning.
On top of my new sled ordered for pick up in early Dec. I just bought a new heated shield modular helmet yesterday.
Now the wait.

We had a substantail snowfall a couple of weeks ago, but it has all melted off now, recent daytime temps have been above freezing.  I would like to see some really cold weather for a quick freeze-up to get some good ice before we get any more snow (only way in to the cabin is over the lake).  Woodsman, what sled did you order?

Just finished getting gear ready today. Been at it since July  ;D. I am working on getting a pair of skis. If I get them, I'll be building a Smitty Sled. Other than that, just like everyone else...ice :'(

The two buddies I ride with each have the Tundras, lite and manuverable, nice machines.  When making a new trail through the bush, they usually go first, I follow up with the workhorse (Expedition LE) carrying the bulky/heavy things like rope winch, chainsaw and ice auger.

still a ways to go here in SE Ont. Ponds should start freezing up soon but will be mid dec before any fishable ice at the earliest.  I have a week at deer camp to keep my mind off icefishing but after that if I cant get the boat out anywhere it will be a lot of pacing around the house.

That would be Anxious (ice) Anglers...and anyone who's been on here since July  certainly qualifies.

Lucky you.
Not here yet.
First snow coated the grass today only to have mostly melted off already.

The lake I live on froze over a week ago, woke up to ice booming this morning (-14c), so things are happening  The lake only has an inch or so of snow cover now, hoping the snow holds off for a while longer until most of the lakes in the area are fit to get on.  My local crew of friends (including myself) are getting bored in this in between season, trying to manufacture things to do, would guess it is the same everywhere in the outdoor community.

Some friends walked out last week for brookies and reported only a couple inches of ice.
My local lake froze over this weekend. I am guessing if the cold stays, 3-4 weeks and I will be sledding on some smaller ponds. 6 weeks and I will be on Lake of the Woods.
Tight lines!

I was sent a picture from Temagami on Sat. Lake froze over.
With the temps predicted for the next 4 days ice will surely thicken up.
Between now and Thurs the highest daytime temp predicted is -10C (14F).
Nights down to -17C (1F).

Skywagon, I am from NWOnt(Dryden area) as well. What lake are you riding on a sled already??? I heard BN Bridge has enough ice to fish but thats it other than little backwater lakes.

What lake ?

I cannot tell you that Tim. It's a hidden gem. Myself and few friends I have taken are the only to ice fish it in the last 45 years according to a local. I would like to keep it that way.

I can tell you it was just south of Bancroft though.
