Time to watch water temp!
« on: Oct 23, 2018, 08:45 AM »
??? Water temp in the white mountains is about 50 degrees F.   Still a long way to go but 20 degree nights are soon to come and first ice a month away.
I like to check the pond temp. in the late afternoon.   The most important thing to watch for is 39 degrees.   That's when the heavy water begins to drop in the water column and eventually lead to 32 degree surface temp.   I steal my wife's expensive kitchen thermometer because its accurate and fast.    Another reason for daily pond visits is to check for recent F&G trout stocking at the unregulated trout waters.  Soon I will notice pods of big rainbows next to the boat access.

Nice! Any precip we get this time of year will reduce lake temps quite a bit.

::) :tipup:32 degrees and blowing snow crystals here in Littleton.  Amazing to read that the Winni water temp is three weeks ahead of last year's cooling and almost ten degrees colder.  Will it keep up and provide early ice??

That means it hasn’t moved much in the ost few weeks. Last week of September I was trolling in 58 degree water right near there.

Nice I was wondering if the buoy just read a little warm, which would make sense. I bet the majority of the surface water is in the low 50s by now.
