I installed indoor lighting from Home Depot..cut off the plug in, they are 12volt stick on, used zip ties to ensure they stay..., 8 ah battery last forever w/ 4 12" lights..2 floor, 2 ceiling...100×'s better than my lantern...don't tell my grandpa I said that...lol

I buy the cheap rolls of leds off of ebay.  Then i zip tie them to the frame of the shanty. You can bn buy ons with remote control color options and dimmers, although i never have.  Buy a coulple rolls and then make yourself some underwater lights with the leftovers.

I started using the LED Light switches.  Velcro mounting them to the poles and under the shelf.  I don't have to mess around with any wiring or battery.  They take AAA's.   AAA's are free at Harbor Freight from time to time and close to free at Menards if you watch the ads.  They last all night and then some.

3M LED Light Strips. Just bought a set of 6 ft strips off ebay for $9. Zip tie them to your poles and connect the wires to a 12v battery like the one your vex uses.
They use minimal juice. I've been running light strips off my 12v battery for 4 years now without ever recharging it. Can also hook em right up to your fish finder if you want.

I've been using this set up for...years.

Buy RV storage/accessory 12 volt light. Uses 1156 lamp. Throw lamp away and buy good quality led circuit board lamp that plugs into 1156 socket. Mount to rail in flip over and plug into 12 volt battery, I use 1.2 amp hour battery about the size of a candy bar...last longer than me. These lights have on/off switch on them, but I've got one mounted by battery connection too. I have a second one set up with amber LED for stealthier fishing....never really use it much...lol.

On second thought this sounds like a lot of work and I would probably just go with battery operated LED now. Back in the day...this was high tech...not so much anymore...lol...batter y operated LED have gotten a lot more dependable and last a long time.

$10(Free S&H) for 16ft LED lights.
IP65 Waterproof
5050 SMD
300 LEDs

The link is for green lights I think they also have white.

I bought these to make 2 underwater Crappie lights for summer fishing, they also work great for icefishing at night just drop down the hole. You could use them for your shanty, they have peel off sticky backing. You can cut to any length you need. I run my off a Vexilar battery for icefishing, Marine 12v for summer.
Incase you want to make underwater lights here's a photo of the ones I made, used them all last summer. Make yourself a pair and use them to light you shanty as a drop light.
