Lake is locked up for the most part aside from the channel. * Snug has reported 3-5" There is rumor of a barge or two coming in this week. *edit

Follow Snug Harbor Outfitters on Facebook. They just went live today (1/22/19) from all the access points on Muskegon Lake reporting conditions.

Freighter came thru yesterday
Do NOT cross the lake

Heading for the sand docks in the a.m. lots of shanties out today!

It was very slow for us on Saturday at the sand docks. A few dinks that was it.
-
Yeah we had the same! Only managed 6!
Can anyone tell me if they’re driving quads and snowmobiles on the lake yet? Heading there on Saturday.
-
Fished Balcoms bay
Nobody I spoke with did well
Including us
-
There were some quads and snowmobiles out today. Did ok at the sand socks. Kept 28 between 2 of us.
-
Hit the sand docks on Friday. Pulled an all day'er. Between two of us we came home with about 40 8"+. Lots of sorting though.
-
Hit the Sand Docks today
Did so-so. Kept 15 in 4 hours. 48 FOW
Ice was still solid 5 to 6 with another 5 to 6 of white ice on top.
Saw a guy land a big white fish
He had a good battle
Going to PM Lake tomorrow

Anyone know how the ice is at the clipper or black buoy?
-
There were folks out near the Clipper yesterday.
Not sure about black bouy.
Sand Docks was good ice
By tonight we will be in a cold spell for at least 10 days and all should be good.
Just hope another boat doesn't come thru
-
Planning on heading out tomorrow afternon. First time fishing Lake Muskegon. Any tips on this lake or any cautions to worry about?
-
Depends on where you are going?
Boats come thru the channel all winter long on occasion. Have to make sure you stay away from the shipping lanes.
Stop at Lakeshore or Snug Harbor bait shop for current advice.
Sand Docks is a popular spot, fish are there but sometimes it's so busy they shut down
But you can drill a hole about anywhere in the lake in 30 to 55 FOW and catch a perch or two.
Good luck!
-
Sands Docks had a late bite today and was able to limit out.
From 1:10 to 2:30 it was on.
There was some others out as well, but the lot was only a little more than 1/3 full.
47 FOW
Straight out
-
Never been to sand docks? How far walk to 47 fow?
-
Not far
-
Ok just curious lol

Fished Muskegon Lake this morning out of Snug Harbor. Fished from 8 AM to 11:30AM in 51 FOW. 2 perch (7"and 4 1/2") Tried minnows, wax worms and cut bait. Im. guessing I should have been there yesterday
