is it worth fishing sebago tomorrow for someone who hauls a sled on foot? Im intrigued to try it out but im afraid any decent spot will take me a year to get to.
-
I’m always on foot and I do just fine. Should be good walking tomorrow with things freezing back up after the thaw. Plenty of good areas within a mile or less of the major public access points.
-
The exercise you get from a walk out and back is worth more than the fish you catch .( Cheaper and Better than joining Planet Fitness) Most all my fish have been in the slot so I don' t to carry them back.

There seems to be plenty of deep water around the station, I didn’t walk all the way to the shanty town in the narrow section and I still marked and caught my first fish. I just took a look at a map and went 90’ or deeper. Make sure you stay out of the marked boundary zone, poles with orange flags on top outline it out and to the right of the Standish launch.

I think the whole southeast shore from Raymond beach to the Station has no public access.
Access both freshwater and the ocean is an embarassment sp for the state.

How are the conditions up there, I'll be on foot on the northeast side somewhere this weekend. Everything still going to be good after this thaw?
-
well i got the ole skunk... was only out there for a few hours but the walking conditions were great!!

How much ice? I'm going to be using a 6 inch hand auger so it would be nice to know how much i'll have to grind through

There was 10-12 inches 3 weeks ago. And they havnt lost any since. 90+ f.o.w seems to be producing fish lately

Thanks, I'm not 100% sure where I'll be walking out from, meeting a friend who's got a place up there but doesn't really ice fish. I've got a flasher so I'm going to give jigging a shot although I havent done it before. Will probably also set up 4 tip ups with smelt at varying depths.

Download (Navtronics) on your phone and you will be able to look ahead and see where you will set up your flasher...

I have never fished or even been to Sebago Lake. I fish Rangeley area but really have set a goal to fish open water with boat this year. I would like to take advantage of the free fishing weekend since I'm having a newbie to ice fishing (teenager) want to go with me this weekend somewhere so why not try Sebago. Is there good fishing walking out from the State Park? I know I can find that spot and that's where I plan on launching the boat in the spring. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. I will be traveling a bit more than 3 hrs. Thanks, Bruce.

I think your going to need your boat out off the state park

Was out just south of Frye island today. Great ice all of 12-14". Fishing was slower than I would have liked. Saw a hardside shack and wheeler go right out past Frye island and out of sight to the north :o

Out at the station at sunset, some cracks and open water at the launch where the shore is mushy, but no snow remain, just puddles of water everywhere.
-
Is the station the best place to get on the lake if you are walking?
