Don't forget people can post in the conditions board. Have to be a member to see them so you won't completely ruin your first ice honey hole
The BIG one is just one flag away!

I'm driving 5 hours north on Thursday for some safe ice this weekend  ;) (although I'm sure there's safe ice much closer, maybe even in CT and probably in the Berks). I try to plan a trip up north around this time every year to avoid taking a swim around here. I hope to be able to fish locally next weekend.

Drove by Winchester last night , wind had broken skim ice up. It sounded like broken glass rattling. Park had an 1+ inches by the ramp so that's a start.

Looks like I will be out on a pond tomorrow morning here in the northeast corner. The pond had 1/4-1/2 yesterday as of 5pm and checked this morning and had 2-2 1/2 inches

....it blew 15-20 all night and more today.  Hard to make ice when there is white caps.  I did fish 4-8" 1.5hrs north this morning. It wont be long.

Yeah..... Big lakes will have white caps but smaller ones wont have much wind at all on them, i was walking on a pond yesterday that I plan on ice fishing monday because i have work and skiing in VT all weekend. AY.

I will be checking a couple of local ponds today and report on ice thickness here in northern New London County. (Pachaug pond area to be more like it).

Beach pond mostly open water (except near Finn beach, abt 1/2" to 3/4" there). Also checked two 10 acre ponds in Pachaug SF and both had 3" to 3-1/2" black ice.

Fished small pond in Norfolk today. Ice was inconsistent 1.5 inches along Eastern shore yet 3.5 to 4 inches elsewhere.
8 flags, 2 brookies, very slick with snow from yesterday and today...need creepers. Just happy to get out!
