Uhhh, I'm pretty sure we can ice fish for as long as there is ice... unless something changed this year.

I was out on a lake near St. Cloud on Thursday night. Still darn near if not more than 30" of ice. The accesses are getting beat up though. Granted, it's supposed to be below freezing all next week, with lows in the teens some nights, so that might extend the season another couple weeks at least.

Just checked the DNR regulations. Looks like trout fishing closes tonight(except for the BWCA), but otherwise, panfish is definitely still open.

It all depends what you are fishing for.

Walleye, Northern Pike and Bass ended Feb 25. (See page 21 and 22) You can fish them longer on some border lakes like Fowl Lake.

Well, yes, obviously. But your post implies that the MN Ice fishing season completely ends today. Which isn't accurate. (Otherwise I'd be rushing out the door for one last trip lol.)

I fish lake trout. If I fished carp I would never have to worry.

I do fish whitefish and that is also continuous, just not as fun as Lakers.
