STOLEN SHACK - HELP!!!
« on: Jan 29, 2012, 06:41 PM »
There is a $1000 reward being offered for information that leads to the return of this shack.

Once again some low life scum decided to take what they were too lazy to earn.

I'm posting this for a friend of mine in Menomonie, WI and will cross post in the WI forum.  This 4 person sleeper shack was stolen from Lake Menomin sometime between Friday January 27th in the morning and today Sunday January 29 early morning.  The shack was set up down below 3M near the I-94 Bridge.  The names Steve Wieland and John Flahaven were on the door.

If anybody has info about this shack (pictured below) please contact the Menomonie Police Dept. at (715) 232-1283.  Thanks for any help fellow sportsmen.

That seriously sucks.  Hope they catch the *****s.  Seems hard to believe you could steal something that big and get away with it.  Especially with all the people on here that will see it.  Good luck, hope they get it back.

Wow, it's gotta take guts to steal a shack like that!!

Make sure you put a reward ad in the local paper, too. If it was drug-types that stole it, one of their druggy friends will try to collect the reward.

wow...was this on the ice or in a parking lot set up to when you wanted to hit the ice?  I'd have the tires off the next one and have some sort of anchor chained through the ice.  Being from Flint MI I've seen it all.  I wish you guys the best.

Maybe the thieves will set it up on thin ice.  It would serve them right.   I hate thieves.

Unbelievable.  Put a Lojack in it.  I would assume it has a V.I.N and has to be registered?  Hopefully someone will catch them.  Looks like the owner has some $$ and effort invested in that nice shack.

Several years ago a relative of mine was building a retirement home on a parcel fronted buy a major highway here in the UP. He had his 32' fifth wheel parked on the property, with a gated driveway, to stay in when he was working on the home. You've already guessed it, someone stole the fifth wheel right off the pad it was parked on. No, he never got it back.

Sorry to hear of your loss.......that looks like one fine unit!!!! It makes me think that when building such a unit, rather than have it look so nice with such clean lines and all, a fella should paint is some God awful color so it would really stand out, and be easier to notice by "lookouts" if someone has the cajones to steal it???? Sorry for the "closing the barn door after....." suggestion.

Thanks everybody!  No developments yet but my buddy wanted me to pass along how much he and his family appreciate your support.  There are a lot of people keeping an eye on Craigslist (including myself) the more the better!  Also people are spreading the word all over and the hopes are for the return of the shack and the prosecution on the people responsible.  Thank you again for all of the suggestions and I will definitely be adding this to the list of reasons that IceShanty is the #1 site on the web!

Makes me want to put some kind of hidden marks on mine. This one is unique enough you should still be able to recognize it even with new paint.
