New recruit one man with LED lightning
« on: Dec 13, 2016, 08:46 AM »
Decided to do a little upgrading this year and picked up an Insulated Frabil recruit for a steal in October. Decided of course to trick it out a bit for night fishing and installed some cut to fit LED lights

This is a couple shots from the assembly of the flip

Plenty of room for a couple poles

LED's on the tent pole bracket

Fired up

Fully lit up at night with the upper light bar in place

The lights performed well at henrys, so now its onto the gorge or the view for the next night set-up

Thanks guys, been really digging the LED strips. Getting pretty good at soldiering them up and keeping it looking clean. The insulated tent definitely had much better heat retention and being a one man I only needed my small buddy heater on low to get it done

Now all you need is a brass pole in the middle and a bar tender for the long cold nights ahead. Looks good, hope to see it in action this year.

Nice job on the lighting.  Should be great for night fishing Pineview or the Gorge.  I went with the new Eskimo EVO1 this year.  It has a 66" front width and a side entry door which I really like over the front entry models.  I saw a hub mount LED puck that would work just great for night fishing but am not sure if the $50 cost is worth it.  Plus, it requires one of the bigger 12V batteries that the leads connect to.  Still thinking about it.

That's what I've been told a couple times and to add a disco ball  ;D

Thanks Bob, in total the LED's I've been using have only cost me about $20 total to do the tent. Not including my battery box. Those EVO's are pretty sweet looking units. Cabelas has the hub light in the bargin cave for $39

Thanks pdogg, worked out very nice on its maiden voyage to Henry's lake. I wish I would have taken a pic at night there. It put out enough light with the door open to show the rods I had out side the door in holders

Great...now I need to go buy one of these shelters...just so I can trick it out, lol!  Very cool!  I haven't looked into them much, I've just got a couple pop up shelters.  This might be the next purchase...and a snowmobile to pull it!
