Maine fishing free and open early

I just thought this was an interesting read. In an effort to get people outdoors, Maine has opened all waters prior to April 1st and no need for a license. I think it's great to get folks into the outdoors, but I'm not sure of my opinion on this quite yet.

I took advantage today and got a good brown on a lake I normally couldn’t fish yet

No studies on whether native fish can get corona virus. Perhaps it is an underhanded assault on the invasives?

It’s good therapy and the early thaw has a lot of us chomping at the bits (and a bit irked). Just be sure to observe social distance and hygiene! If your sick, stay Home!

I believe that they prohibited “catch and release” to keep the lake population of fish properly quarantined. It is now “Catch and Eat.”  ;D ;D ;D

Another reason to love Maine...

Same, I’m sure the Belgrade lakes would be great right at ice out, just not sure when that starts up there. Might have to check out the Maine shanty board

That's cool that they did that instead of telling everyone to hide in the basement... Good stuff

If they did that here in michigan there would be 10,000 people shoulder to shoulder on the rivers crushing limits of walleye.... Corona would run rampant lmao

Isn't it funny, the Maine Snowmobiling Association asked clubs to stop grooming for safety. They want to discourage tourism.
Quote- fishslap: I use a variety:  whistlin' bungholes, spleen splitters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don'ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistlin' kitty chaser
