So, I'm guessing PK is off limits as of now?

So, I'm guessing PK is off limits as of now?

I don't have first hand info but after being on better LG ice than PK last weekend, reading reports on here about PK and watching the weather this week I can't imagine PK is remotely safe.

open water

I saw a picture on Facebook that Basin Bay was open water so I would imagine the entire lake is open and if there’s any ice it’s unsafe

Ice is gone on LG as we all know.  But I saw this and now I can't wait to get back out there again.  This girl got it done.  Good job!

Clearly the King won’t be ready by Xmas/NYE. What are some lakes in the general vicinity I should be tracking for some early ice?

I was up there sunday with my 20' bass boat.

however from my experience in the past, this cold snap this week will freeze half the channel from the small lake to the big lake....

Currently 14 degrees @ Gull Bay, if nothing else this cold snap will burn off a lot of stored heat. LG has been steaming these past couple of days.

Water temp is currently below 39* so its promising a cold snap could start some ice on the bays. 39* is a key temp when it comes to lakes freezing over

Water temp Friday will be mid 40's and I am tempted to drag the boat up.

expecting the rain to raise lake water temps over 2 degrees? Looking at radar and 2"+ of rain and two days in the 50s might just do it. Checked old messages and it was 42* on the 11th.

Buddy of mine did that last year.  Got sick of waiting and took out the boat.  He put together this video with a lot of good tips and tricks.  They got into the perch pretty good.

Long range forecast isn't looking good, but that can change so fast. Look one day and see no cold Temps, look the next day and see a whole month of cold Temps. We shall see, but I do think we are ahead of schedule compared to the last few years

Drove up from Lake George Village to Hague yesterday and lake is entirely open with no hint of ice anywhere.  One guy fishing in boat off Diamond point in middle of lake. Might be a short season at best if weather does not change.

Fish307 reporting 4-5 on South Bay. I may try there next weekend, but never been. Looks like there would be access at the boat launch by the 22 bridge.

Any tips on where to go (or avoid) from there and what to target?  North and south of the bridge looks pretty similar in terms of structure within a miles walk. Would imagine there could be current and this sketchy ice under the bridge?

Any tips appreciated

South bay on lake champlain watch out by the bridge, it does not freeze well. There's a lot of warm water species there.   Mostly perch but Lake Champlain has a lot of other species too. Also the special Lake Champlain rules allow you 15 lines per person. Good luck out there.
