Fished Vogel from 7 to 1030. Was slow. Only caught 2 small trout and 1 perch. Don't have a power auger so I didn't move around much.
Ice was clear and a good 6".

Anyone spend much time fishing the smaller lakes around Winnett in the spring time around ice off?  One would think the trout fishing in Vogel and YW would be great as the ice peeled away from shore.  Was thinking about a Petrolia trip as well when it warms up a bit, but from all the non success we had there this year not sure if that would be worth the fuel... Anyone spend any time up there in the spring?

I'm defiantly gonna hit some lakes as the ice peel off. My summer fishing really got screwed up last year because I was on the road. Gonna hit it hard this year.  I was gonna try to hit bair for sure.  Vogel is on my list too.

Anyone hit this area recently? I am assuming the ice is off and thinking of getting the boat out on Yellowwater and see if there are any kinks that need worked out... but would hate to get the boat up there to only see ice.

I drove back from North Dakota to Billings today. I saw open water on the Yellowstone over every bridge. Did not see any iceflows either. Even the Missouri River in Bismarck was completely open.

Ice is completely gone at Yellowwater... surface temp was 43 degrees and the fish were in a playful mood... today I trolled a pk flutterfish and limited out in 3 hours... great day to be on the water!

Hey Mo, they were all in the 1-1.5 lb range I guess... football shaped fish for sure... they are doing well after it winterkilled and then restocked last summer... all the fish I kept had lots of small minnows in their belly.
