favorite cleats?
« on: Sep 20, 2006, 09:50 AM »
I've always worn the cheapo south bend cleats from wally world, but am thinking of upgrading to something that covers the whole bottoms of my feet.  What do you guys use/like that seem to handle abuse without breaking?

I like Stabilicers

I broke both of my Yaktrax while trying to pull them over my boots a few seasons back.  Maybe I'd already knicked them or something. ???

are you talking to yourself  ?

Yes. Why?  ;)

I think they list for around 45.  I got them out of an end of season clearance bin at Dick's for 30, if I remember correctly.  45 is more than I would pay, but you can probably find them cheaper online.  I know you know the spots.

So I think I'm sold on the Stabilicers after reading all the rave reviews about them on different review sites.  When icefishing I wear the same old sorels I bought in 1991 as snowboarding boots.  They are size 9.  Will the size 8 -10 (M) Stabilicers be large enough for them, or would I be better off getting the 10.5 - 12 size?

I got Stabilicers. They work fine. I also use Arctic spurs. If the straps held up better on the spurs I would recommend them. Stabilicers are probably your best bet.
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.

i also use stabilicers and love them. if you have big boot and the straps wont fit just call them and they will send you extentions for free.

I like my Yaks for this reason:They just plain fit every shoe/boot I'm wearing.  They are cheap enough to have a couple pairs, and if one breaks, I use the other for a spare.  I never am without a pair in my parka, always at the ready.
