no you don't have to be a registered guide i know this for a fact as i have a loved one in the same exact circumstance ..... this is a program so people can be involved in activities and be active members to the community ...there are some great programs to help people to enjoy life and do the things most of us take for granted ........esox like i said you are welcome to fish with me up here but perhaps we can make a date to go fish cranberry pond for those perch ....i would enjoy the company
To do this legally in NY the person would have to be a NYS Guide Licensed Guide for fishing, the laws are pretty straight forward on this.[urlhttps://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/laws/ENV/11-0533][/url]https://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/30969.html
hey this is a young man the just needs a little help to do the things we do ,and thats go fishing ...... i don't need money ...esox we just have to figgure a time when we can get together , i personally have found some of the people on this site to be great sportsmen and some of the nicest folks around who have bent over back wards to help me and never took a dime ....my suggestion to you is take your time and explain the program and why you are in it and why you want to go and the rest will fall in place ......... and it's a great program we need more of them !
Esox fisherman...I went to the website https://www.epiny.org/developmental-disabilities/community-habilitation/ not much information is provide . What would clear things up is a local contact person ...phone number and Email so those who are inquisitive can get the the answers to the questions they have concerning the program .trapper2000 you are a gentleman , scholar and a sportsman...sometimes a rarity in these times .
As a fellow guide my self and you being a guide too you should be pushing for this not bashing, it’s helping people who can’t get out and fish, taking a few dollars out of your pocket? Cry me a river what does our little bs certificate give us the right to? Be covered under liability?? Wrong you need insurance for that go gaff some lakers on lake George with your New York City cliental then complain that the fishing sucks if I was closer I’d be happy to do this a New York guide is supposed to be the stewards of the waters the rules are not blatant your just jealous it seems that your guide business is basically just deemed useless
What did I push for? I just stated that to get paid to take someone fishing in NY you need to be a licensed guide. People can do what they want, I really don't care if they want to deal with legal issues, that's on them. When did I claim the fishing sucks? I have never gaffed a fish in my life, moron.I retired from guiding after 24 years. Now I work and fish in Alaska all summer, who's jealous now.
hey thanks for the heads up i haven't fished that in years
