Looking for someone in Rochester to take them fishing on weekends for 8 hours Year Round. Pay is $20.00 an hour with milage reimbursement
Edit for more context its from community habilitation
Community Habilitation is an program that provides one-to-one support to help individuals who have developmental disabilities to improve their independent living skills and participate in social recreation activities.
An example of engaging in social recreation activities being fishing

Am I reading this right? Your going to pay someone to go fishing with you? If it weren't for a 4 hour ride, you'd have a new buddy.

Why not just save $160 a week and go out fishing yourself? Pretty odd post in my opinion. Paying people to be your friend is a new one to me.
Solitude on the water does the soul good.
As the saying goes “some go to church and think about fishing, others go fishing and think about God”.

Yup - I enjoy going with the couple guys I fish with at times, but I REALLY like going alone...... I wouldn't pay anybody to take me and I wouldn't want anyone to pay me .... I had a job for 40 years, I don't want another ..... LOL

No its from what is called community habilitation

Well you are offering money to have someone take you (and others) fishing. And you are doing it on social media. Whoever bites on that had better be a New York State Registered Guide

This makes much more sense and would’ve provided so much more context to the original request.
Context is everything.

I try to take new people out in my Boats every year but for getting paid I would have to think about liability but I guess it's the same paid or not
-
Back in the day, my uncle owned a marina on Sacandaga, rented fishing boats, etc. The lake could be tough to say the least so I got to take a lot of guys out fishing to show them HOW and sometimes WHERE I was fishing. I learned a lot from some of them and lots came back to rent a fishing boat. It seemed to be a win/win for everyone. One guy even bought a house just down the road from me and we fished together for years. When he passed a few years ago he left me all his fishing gear, those dam Loomis Rods as I would say to him. Any way you never know how things work out....h2l

Liability wouldn’t be much of an issue were you interested in the job

Wish I had the time as it is I have to squeeze in fishing time

To do this legally in NY the person would have to be a NYS Guide Licensed Guide for fishing, the laws are pretty straight forward on this.

-
no you don't have to be a registered guide i know this for a fact as i have a loved one in the same exact circumstance ..... this is a program so people can be involved in activities and be active members to the community ...there are some great programs to help people to enjoy life and do the things most of us take for granted ........esox like i said you are welcome to fish with me up here but perhaps we can make a date to go fish cranberry pond for those perch ;D....i would enjoy the company

Hopefully its funny how it can be a grind this time of the year for perch yet during the summer you can catch an 8” perch on a 3/4oz daredevle or a 12” perch on a 5” senko

As a fellow guide my self and you being a guide too you should be pushing for this not bashing, it’s helping people who can’t get out and fish, taking a few dollars out of your pocket? Cry me a river what does our little bs certificate give us the right to? Be covered under liability?? Wrong you need insurance for that go gaff some lakers on lake George with your New York City cliental then complain that the fishing sucks if I was closer I’d be happy to do this a New York guide is supposed to be the stewards of the waters the rules are not blatant your just jealous it seems that your guide business is basically just deemed useless

What did I push for? I just stated that to get paid to take someone fishing in NY you need to be a licensed guide. People can do what they want, I really don't care if they want to deal with legal issues, that's on them. When did I claim the fishing sucks? I have never gaffed a fish in my life, moron.
I retired from guiding after 24 years. Now I work and fish in Alaska all summer, who's jealous now.

Good luck finding perch on cranberry pond unless they have dug the channel back out. But last I knew they didn't bunch of work on long pond and cranberry and they were super low and nothing could get in and out the channels

Been out of the business for 25 years and fishes in Alaska but still gives his opinions of the legality behind it tryna scare people away from helping someone who needs it why not offer him a trip if your so helpful and knowledgeable
-
Hey esox I wish I lived closer but if you can get a ride down to Long Island you can come fish the saltwater any weekend you want for free can put the money towards transportation maybe
-
hey thanks for the heads up i haven't fished that in years
Absolutely gas is to high to drive all that way when you have spots you can take him that you know you will catch fish
-
It is sad to see this subject devolve when it was meant to find some semi volunteers to take disabled people fishing. As far as suggesting you need to have a guide license to take them fishing, that is way over the top. I am sure if some guide took you to court for taking a disable person fishing for $20.00 an hour it would not go well when covered on the local news. Additionally, it may be difficult to prove the person was being paid for guiding and not just providing company while fishing or perhaps the $20 is just a contribution for boat gas or using my lures.
Is there a similar need in the Syracuse area for someone with disabilities to have an escort while going fishing?
-
no no fishing thats why i tried to explain this ....esox is under a agancy that will pay for someone to go with him ..... not guide merely to go and enjoy the day with the man ....... however i am 100 % sure as esox explains what he is looking for many offers are going to come ....... he merely wants to go fishing and has no one to take him ........

I'm free on Tuesdays

Thank god. Having you burn access on LG and follow a few of us around was the worst. Once you lost your special access you quit...surprising.
