Typically I use a tungsten horizontal with a waxie.  Bought couple PK preditor spoons and they look great.   Try some #2 jigging raps.
Small ice jigs and tube jigs with crappie nibbles.
You have good luck with crappie nibbles?   Never great luck.

This past ice season I found jigging raps to be a very effective crappie lure. No need to tip them with any bait. Only problem is that LM bass love them too. Seemed like everytime I would graph a bass it would hit the lure.

k&e vertical jig with a minnow hooked in the back or a light wire Aberdeen hook and some split shot.  the spacing on the split shot depend on the aggressiveness of the crappie the more aggressive they are the further away from the hook they need to be. start out .5 foot apart and see if you can fine tune it from there.  move it two to four inches at a time.  if they don't hit right away when you move them apart move them closer together. the less aggressive crappie will come in and hit slow moving minnows they don't have to chase as hard!     by the book crappie wisdom and the book ice fishing secrets i got them from half.com for around .75 cent plus 3.25 shipping... there produced by in fishermen  if wondering??

How is this a problem?

Don't get me wrong 2-3lb bass are fun to catch but I was more interested in trying to catch crappies. One day I caught around 9 within a half hour and had to move just to get away from them. For some reason a jigging rap to a bass is like cat nip to a cat. They just go crazy for it.

I just watched a fishing show and they were catching crappies on 1/24th ounce Kastmasters.  I think they are produced now by Uncle Josh (Beaver Dam).  Those look like another good crappie option.

I've whacked them on the smallest castmasters they make up to the 1/8th ozers. I like the silver and blue combo tipped with perch meat. Nuclear ants and swedish pimples are deadly too!

Deep water, swedish pimple glow with red blade tipped with a fathead.   24' or less I'm not sure what they are called but they are small vertical jigs with two small silver blades on a large eye.  I always call them flutter jigs, green or orange tipped with waxies work good.  Glow at night for sure.

northland forage minnow(glow) jig and minnow.

this red one has a glass rattle in it.  it works great for attracting them in.  the minnow constantly rattles the jig.  as you can see, i like to glue glow tails on my baits too.  ;D

I have tried tying it right to the spoon and I also tie to the quick link that comes with it. I get 10x more fish when I use the quick link. I don't know if it has better action or what, but now I always use the quick link.

there is no right or wrong answer for this. the fish will tell you what they want. this one lake I fish I normally fish it with a size 12 Glow Red Clam Drop Jig and euro larva but this last time I was out there the fish were there but they have been so pressured by people that they shut off to live baits and would only take plastics when presented in a finesse manner. if you are not catching them one way don't be afraid to change it up and try something else. when they are in a negative mood you will need to use a more finesse presentation. slow down your jigging, down size your hook, try plastics, use a spring bobber rod.

I bring a variety of lures...I will use a variety of spoons, but the one I mostly use is a Northland Forage Minnow spoon.   I guess it was what my buddy recommend to me.

I will say my favorite is probably a those Kastmaster spoons and all the copy cat version of them.

Had great luck two weeks ago on a VMC Tingler spoon tipped with powerbait honey worms. However, lately my luck is off or the crappie have lock jaw or there are none left in the lake (why I am reading this thread).

Last month, I had a lot of luck with those Hali jigs tipped with spikes.  Recently, they have been hammering 1/8 slender spoon with spikes.  Needless to say that you have to be ready to change bait until you find it.

Small tungsten and a little atom nuggie..tipped with a wax worm. The wax worm adds taste and also keeps the nuggie up on the jig, keeping you from having your pants pulled down, down there, and you not knowing it. Or a small slender spoon.

I mainly fish the evening bite. I start with the biggest clam bomb spoon and a whole minnow. This usually works.

Next I try a tungsten jig or forage fry with minnow on a bobber.

If that doesnt work, i will try a plain hook & minnow.

Tungsten gold drop jig with a wax worm, weird enough as the gold starts to flake off we catch more. Almost a competition how long you can go on one small tungsten jig.

Whatever you choose, maybe bigger than you think. This past summer I was experimenting snap jigging for walleyes. On one spot I started seeing occasional marks half to 2/3s down the water column in 12 -14 FOW. Raised the 2.5" Shiver minnow up to one of the marks and got hammered by a 14" crappie. Not nibbled or leaned on. Hammered.

Sun came out and the bite got more tentative, still caught fish. Tried tipping but that really did not make a difference. Not a fluke either. Over the next 90 minutes I caught 19 fish between 12 and 14 inches. Kept 4 for dinner. Went back the next day and did it all over again. Pretty neat lesson for me.

I was completely surprised one spring when I was throwing flies I tied for pike. The first fish that I landed on one of those flies

Not the only one either, at least a half dozen that day were biting my 4-6” pike flies.

I just give them a long drop to let them "swim" out off to the side of the hole, and let them settle back under the hole.  That often gets a fish to come and look.  Either they come and smack it, or they stop and look at it, then you can give it some jiggles or vibrations.
