Signed up and ready to go!  Great tournament, just hoping we do better than our two dink-walleye production last year.

where is sacandaga lake?

There are two. This thread is referring to the Great Sacandaga, formerly known as the Sacandaga Res. It straddles Fulton and Saratoga counties. Look up Mayfield and Broadalbin on a map. These two villages are roughly across from one another on the lower end of the lake. Also, reference Northville, Gloversville, Johnstown and Amsterdam, near by cities.

I'll be there with the crew from photo 1 in the photo contest. Graet time and prizes. Fishing isn't all that great we caught two just legal walleyes and four big perch last year.
If fishing is a sport are we considered athletes?

sacandaga has alot of eyes.

i have to disagree with you on that.  i think it had a lot of eyes before the white perch wiped them out.  now it seems like the pike are thriving because they have the white perch to chow on.  last year there were only 125 or so eyes weighed in at the challenge out of say 800 people out of the 1500 entries.  that is 4000 tip ups and less than 200 eyes.  i did really well on bass/pike this summer and caught a ton of white perch.

We will be there hoping for  better results than last year. I want one of the wheelers!!!!!!!!!! And a large eye would be a bonus.

All set to go...got our wrist bands when we signed up a Food and Fuel. Had a good year this summer with the walleyes, so hoping this winter will be better than last year on the ice. They are there, just have to find them....hunts2long

I know they are in there just not a lot of them.  Tough to find them on the ice,  did good trolling this summer but covered a lot of water to do so.  Just need to be in the right place at the right time.

I agree with you minnow.alot of big pike  but in summer its not uncommon for us to do 10-15 eyes trolling in a couple of hours. winter is not as good but we got 6 sat and 4 sun.all legal and all released. I target trout so next weekend will be diff. hope to get a flag

My three buddies and I are in, but have never been to the lake. I would like to try it once before the tournament so I'm not fumbling around in the dark, is there ice yet? If I understood sacandagakid correctly it sounds as if there is.

I was cutting 5 inches in the bay i live on, I wouldn't wonder out to the middle of the lake just yet.

Thanks SSminnow. Plan to give 'er a try in a couple of weeks, it's a 3 hour ride for us to the lake-hope the ice is better so it doesn't turn into a 3 hour tour.

Well, that raises a good question. Based on the derby literature it appears we could use the state ramp in Broadalbin, is there an access point closer to, or at, Lanzis? I don't mind paying a little if it's a convenient spot, with 1500+ people on the ice it must be a zoo at the launches, that's partly why I want to try it in advance. Is there anywhere else that would be a good access point? We have ATVs so a couple mile ride is no big deal.
