Fishslap is correct but if you hold them by their lips and close to your face, they will slap you with their tails.

It's a 6 hr drive from Denver, so... long distance!  But I guess if camping is possible, an overnight trip or three day trip can be worth it!  Tempting...

You probably mentioned this before, but do you have specific recommendations for gear to camp on the ice?  I assume you use cots in thermally insulated huts, but anything else you recommend?

And not needing a 4 wheeler sounds good!  As long as I can drag all my gear out there to the spots, if they're close enough to my truck!

When I have done it, I brought the old-fashioned high army type cots and stored them outside the pop-up until evening. They kept us high and dry as things warmed up on the floor/ice.

In the morning we opened the door and heaved them out again.

Yeah, I think cots are key.  Gotta stay off the ice!

Thanks!  Yeah, that all makes sense.  Great info about the chisel.  Good to hear you can find the spots close to parking!

Quality, yes, quantity, no. He stated that there were no quality Crappie in Colorado. That is not true.
