You just got to drive away from the Western slope and go a bit higher in elevation where it gets colder earlier in the year, most lakes over 10,500 feet are frozen. Hope the ice comes soon bud!

The way I see it, we may not have any “safe” ice until the second or third week in December if these weather patterns continue. It sucks, but maybe it will stay around a little longer come February.
(We can only hope!)  :o

Antero should cap soon. The snow on Mon & Tue should nucleate an ice layer that will definitely thicken over the next week.

There will be ice soon enough!   Enjoy the weather you have while its here!  This is the best time of year up here, summer tourists are gone and ski season hasn't started yet

you are absolutely correct. instead of going elk hunting, me and the buddy went up to our high lakes on a whim. shocked us both to see a solid cap 6-8 inches thick.

i will say it was my first experience with such talkative ice, cracks and odd noises all day! (my holes were yodeling at me)

anyway we did ice a limit , landed probably 50 between the two of us (rainbows and browns)

was fun! first time fishing in colorado without at least 6 inches of snow on the ice, so very slippery!.

this lake is kind of special though as it was the only one frozen up in a 3 lake system.

this season is suprising me.

i know i should hope for snow, but its sooooo nice just walking out not he lake with 2-3 inches of powder.

just enough for traction, not too much to slow my sled pull!

also the ice is pretty
