Went to cut a Christmas tree.

Had a hard time finding anything with in 100 yards of the road. Settled for a Charlie Brown tree. This is the Grand Mesa.

Ice looked very unstable.

Thought about cutting me a Scrub oak instead. At least they are bushy. Seems any tree within 100 yards was cut. People weren't following  what the forest service says and that is to cut trees that are less than 20' tall and 6" and under in Diameter. Also you are supposed to cut them no more than 6" up from the ground. Have to use hand saws or axes. I found a lot of the trees were cut about 5-6 feet up from the ground and more than 6" in diameter.

Saves ya money. The Cut-yer-own places here start at $50 for a 5' pine, and go up to $17 or more per foot for a frasier fir...for that price I'd expect hot chocolate, cookies, tree wrapped and delivered.... ::)

As HARDTOP used to say, "that's the concrete jungle".. ;D
