It's been a short but sweet season where I live. Most of my favorite spots never froze up completely, or at all. Even though it was a short season I managed to get out there on some sketchy ice and land some nice fish. Here are my big 4 musky and pike from this season. I landed a new PB musky through the ice at 47" 30lbs, a 42, and a 40.5 and 39" pike. Both the musky were caught with big live suckers and the pike came on big dead golden shiners.

"I let him go..." my favorite Schwarzenegger line from Commando. ::)
I had the question but I wasn't going to ask as it's often a can o' worms. So, from me: Thank you! Job well done. Big muskies thru the ice are incidental here in WI as the season closes end of Dec. south of Hwy 10 and end of Nov north of that.
I've swung some good fish in Jan and Feb, some really challenged to get through an 8" hole. Boatloads of fun but you got to get 'em back in good health. I like pike as table fare but I've got no inclination to keep (much) over 30". Depends on the situation.
For you:

Yeah, I see a lot of people keep pike and muskie out of the water way too long letting them flop around on the ice just to get a picture. They damage themselves on the ice and if it's too cold their eyeballs and gills freeze. That's why I bring everything I need to the hole when I get a flag: pliers, jaw spreaders, boga, clippers, tape measure, camera, and a weigh sling to put them on so they don't get cut up on the ice.
