newbie looking to fish irondequoit bay
« on: Feb 08, 2011, 09:35 AM »
I'm kinda new to ice fishing. I'm looking to fish irondequoit bay but I have no idea where to go.
I used to fish by the old newport marina during the spring/summer with some success and also by the old sunshine sailing club.
are those spots any good thru the ice??

Most of those coves you talk about have no access anymore. Main access is from the Fish & Game (South end off of Empire Blvd.) and North end Launch/Parking area (go out from the West end of the parking area). Probably a 15 minute walk or more to the deeper fishing areas both ends. Snow/slush have been making the walk nasty. Fishing is hit/miss lately but will usually improve as we head towards March. You need to get on the Reports and Conditions thread for Irondiquoit Bay and make your own assessments. Before you ask a bunch of questions on there, read back a few pages, it's usually already been answered. Good luck-cya...

bhebby,

I think you need a certain number of posts to see the reports and conditions areas.

I believe it's five posts, so one more and you're in.
