First report from Sayers as of 11 am. The upper end of the lake has a light skim of ice covering the entire surface. I would guess that it is 1/4 inch at the most and less most places. The lake is covered all the way across down to the Howard launch. From there down it is covered on the mountain side anywhere from 1/2 to 2/3 the way out. Below the winter launch the far side is still covered but gets narrower the further down you go towards the dam. The "gut" off the main lake is mostly open water. It has a light skim of ice on the near side back to the big tree in the water. From there back towards the cove it gets a bit thicker, especially after the smaller tree down on the far side. Just in the cove itself, it is thicker yet. It takes a good size rock just to puncture the ice, I would guess about a half inch or so. The lake is down to its early winter level and things are looking good. Or, were looking good, I should say. They are predicting 5 inches of snow tonight and that can't be good. Going away for the weekend, hope I have some good news next week. John
