Title: Help identifying Walleye spots?
Post by: St. Lawrence River Guy on Jan 05, 2018, 11:34 AM
Sorry about the quality of this image - it was the only map I could find online.

Last summer I stumbled into some Walleye by accident in this area.  Very deep, crystal clear water, 25-40 feet.

I've never targeted walleye through the ice, if you were to look at this what would you think?  Pre-dawn/after dark? Shallow (4ft), just after the shoal 10-12 feet or deep water near the weedline?

Air temps aren't going above zero until Monday so we'll be making ice, so I'd like to be ready to roll when the weather improves.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I would try the back (deep) side of the weedline at dusk and dawn. inside of the weedline at night.

Just like the last post. If your going to fish during the daylight to darkness transitions i would look for the longest point running from the weedline down to the deeper water and setup along it.
Daylight setup on the base of the dropoff. At night move up into the weed edges.

I am not sure of your scale but my best guess is they are going to transition from deep to shallow during evening. I'd have holes drilled from the weedline into 5-6'.  I'd set a couple tip ups on the deeper end in the afternoon and then move them shallower in evening.
