Trap Attack-Silver Lake
« on: Dec 03, 2007, 01:52 AM »
Who's going to fish the Attack this year.

I have entered them all (2 fished, 1 canceled by Mr. Genz) and I won't miss this year. Happy to see that they have learned (by moving the date to the last weekend of Feb) that there is no guarantee there will be fishable or ATV safe ice by the first week in Feb. on this lake.

I am thinking about it. I fished the Trap at Silver in 05 and had fun but stayed deep and couldn't get off the shorts.
I think the key there is to get into the crowd of shacks in the shallows and stay put.
Kids that hunt, trap and fish don't mug little old ladies.

Big moves to find'em, small moves to catch'em!

Dave just wants to work on his backstroke.
I personally do not like these types of contests. My 2 cents.
I would rather go out with some friends and have a low pressure friendly wager for fun or some beers after.
Contests always bring out the BEST in people.

I was in both also, first one was a good time, second one was a nightmare. This year I dont know if Ill be involved, from what Ive seen of silver she can be real tough that time of year. I guess it depends on my partner, I dont care either way. It is rather expensive but from what I saw a first class operation and was glad I did it once anyhow.

what really should be done with the trap-attack  is to use 2 or more lakes that way you could move it around not only for safe ice but also to give silver a chance to rebound a year or 2 dont get me wrong theres still nice fish in their but a tournament of that magnitude is gonna take its toll year after year.

I say move it to Oneida, lot more area to cover. You could also do panfish on Saturday, and perch and walleye on Sunday, that would weed out people who are just lucky. I would also love to see the bigger sponsors and guys who sell us the jigs and cool gadgets out this way. There are plenty of rooms, and there wouldn't be a crowd unless 5,000 showed up.
