World Record Bluegill caught on Honeoye?

I was fishing for bass with 3 friends of mine in my pontoon boat when I may have caught a world record bluegill.  I was 3rd in line of 4 guys fishing the outer weed edge. The guy in front caught a 15 inch bass on a) spinner bait.  The next guy caught a 14 inch one on a wacky worm.  I said I should be the next one to get a fish.  Sure enough a few minutes later I felt a tap-tap on my 6 inch Texas rigged worm so I set the hook and felt nothing.  I reeled in the lure to check it and to my surprise  there was a 1/2 inch bluegill impaled on the 1/0 hook.  I said "Hey- I caught one". Everybody said "yeah right" until I showed it to them and they all broke out laughing. It may be the smallest bluegill ever caught.  I was going to have it mounted, but it slipped out of my hands and into the water.  here's a photo, but you may have to zoom in to see it.

Ha!  Been there... foul hooked don't count!  My bet is that the bass that you felt "tap tap" had that little guy in his mouth and in setting the hook, you also stole his dinner!  I had a lake trout do that to me ice fishing last year.

I used to trap them for perch baits. Can't get much better.

I will try and make a small plastic copy of a bluegill,i think best is about one inch or maybe 2in.

I used to trap them for perch baits. Can't get much better.

Hi Bob, let's get another season going! You are always on top of the best tricks for sure. Might be some rules about transporting them to waters other than the one you catch them on though? Hopefully cya soon.
