Hey guys,
Going to the in-laws cabin at candle have never ice fished it. Have summer fished by the island in the boat but nothing else.
Is there anywhere I park park and walk on and get to a decent depth? Looks like maybe the east side of the lake? Or is it sled only, as I don’t feel like driving on.
I know it’s a slow lake to fish but I’m there anyways and the weather looks great...
All else fails I can just try to find a few shack and head towards them.
Thanks in advance.
Or should I just go elsewhere all together and try; Emma, Christopher, or bittern lakes?

Hello Pollock,
I can't speak for Candle, but Emma was a pleasant surprise last summer. The walleye were amazing. I remember fishing it as a kid, and a couple of walleye was a big day. Last July, my four year old granddaughter caught six nice walleye in about 2 hours of fishing with her Pink Pony rod. Her four and six year old cousins caught as well. I haven't made it back yet to try ice fishing, but it is definitely on the list.

Personally if at candle I would check out NHPP. Lots of trout and other lakes with many easy access by foot.

Thanks guys.
I have fished narrow hills provincial park lots growing up... lower fishing and a few of the small lakes off the escar road and such...had good luck in summer.
Maybe I shall think about heading that route.

I have had a few decent days on Heritage. It's nice and close to Candle and has decent walleye. It shouldn't be too far to walk out.

first light and last light for candle only and hold on tight as you may only get one chance
if going into nhpp area Id go to pinkney or heritage
good luck

Ended up spending 5 hours out at candle in the provincial park area.
Caught 2 pike and saw a few lil walleyes on the camera, one stuck but missed it.
Great day weather wise, so can’t complain.
Thanks for any input on lakes and spots guys.
Cheers.
