Depending on the lure you use, with a good amount of sinkers to get your bait down, stiff action rod and low stretch mono or floro to set the hook.
Or so I would assume, I've only jigged down to about 50 - 60 fow.

My guestion is do you jig slow ,bounce off bottom ,real it in then drop it always

we jig in lake superior in anywhere from 50 - 300 fow. large heavy jigs 1 1/2 - 3 oz. usually a 2 " trailer treble baited with a piece of cut smelt. i use a 30" HD patriot rod with a high speed retrieve reel. since i bought a vexilar we have tripled the amount of fish we get in deep water.
