St. Croix Premier 36" MH Spinning Rod
« on: Dec 15, 2014, 01:23 AM »
I'm new to the jigging scene as I have been strictly tip-up fishing for the last 25 years.  Looking to get some insight on the St. Croix 36" MH.  I plan to jig with lipless cranks, spoons, jiggin raps, snap raps, and shads, chubby darters, blade baits etc. Going to target walleye and lakers.  Im confident it will be good for the lakers, but the walleye avg. from 15-25".  Recently purchased a Marcum Dual Beam for helping me find the fish.  Will this stick work for hole hopping, specifically targeting walleye and lakers or should I get the Medium?

I have this one and paired it with a Shimano Sedona 2500 for a Laker rod which I used in Colorado. If you're catching large Walleye's it will work as a weapon for both species. If it's solely a Walleye rod I would look into the Medium.

Thanks, you think the medium will handle the bigger lures?

IMO the st croix premiere in medium is on the heavier side of medium, at least that is the case with my 28" premiere med.

Thanks for the reply,  I tried to switch the order, but it looks like she already shipped.  Maybe i'll test it out and return it if I don't liek the stiffness
