I'm still waiting for my ship to come in so I can buy one. I think I waited so long for my ship to come in that my pier collapsed. :o

chump change!
it is pretty cool though. Youd be the talk of the lake
-
and would you really want to hear what they are saying?
-
GREAT - just when I thought there wasn't anything left for me to buy for ice fishing. The yooper crawler would be way too much fun. Leave it to our brothers from upnort to come up with this.

Length: 7' 6", Width 7', Height 8'
Weight 1750 lbs.
That's the wide crawler....it looks inviting, but it seems a bit under powered, but I know nothing.....
please educate me.

There's several self propelled shelters on the market.
Each pretty cool in their own way.
Here's some info on the one's that I know of: Any one know the speed or price on a YooperCrawler?
Yooper Crawler
yooopercrawler.com
weight 1650 or 1750 (does it float ?)
speed ?
price ?
Sno Bear
snow-bear.com
weight 2800
it's supposed to float, I saw photos of one that kinda half floated or bobbed (at least it didn't sink to the bottom)
speed 24 mph
price fall of '06 was $32,000 (now ? $35,000 ? )
Wilcraft
thewilcraft.com
weight 500
IT FLOATS (see my avatar)
speed 20 mph
price around $11,000 to $13,000

So it's probably no surprise which one I'm partial to.
. . . Reasons . . .
I fish many different lakes anywhere from a mile to 300 miles from home. It's easy to trailer and can be hauled in the back of a pickup truck.
It's the weight and bouyancy that allow for fishing during early thin ice and late rotten ice; thus extending the duration of the icefishing season WHILE adding a safety factor.

i found the a hovercraft ice shanty :-* :-* http://www.amhovercrafts.com/hoverhut.html (http://www.amhovercrafts.com/hoverhut.html) very fast ;D ;D floats i believe if motor dies

LOL I like it but ya can't drill anywhere on the floor of it. LMAO it will Deflate. Its only good for moving around on ice and using as a windbreaker if ya fishing tipups. LOL no jiggin out of this one. ;D ;D ;D
-
look at the pictures it has two holes for jigging, back to you LAMO

What'd ya say? I can't hear ya! .....
-
Seems like the only time you see these are resorts that send out guides and clients in them.
-
That crawler seems redundant, if ya built a tiny little shanty like that out of foam and luan it'd be light enough to push around by hand on the ice (likely faster than the crawler actually moves). Snobear is a great product for outfitters, that's probably the only way I'd justify the price. The Wilcraft seems reasonably priced for what it does and the R&D that was likely involved, would like to try one out someday.
I personally don't know of anyone who'd buy one of these units. Are these viable businesses if your only target market is the ice fishing community? Most don't have the dollars for pricey units like these...

The closest Wilcraft dealer for you is between Cleveland and Akron Ohio.
IF you're EVER in Minnesota during ice season, pm me here (I check the site every day). I think I could arrange for you to try fishing in one.
