Nice Trouty Tripple
« on: Dec 27, 2013, 08:49 AM »
I thought my local ice would be destroyed after last weeks thaw. Just in case it was a little safe I checked my local favorite hole and found 4 to 5 solid inches. Completely locked up at the shoreline, although the middle was wide open.  I managed to scramble out to about 3 1/2 inches of ice in over 30 feet of water.    Caught a Triple.....
   20 inch Brownie !
   15 inch Brookie  !
   14 inch little rainbow

WOOHOOO !!!! the ice in Templeton area is locked up !!!   good luck out there!

Nice catch but just like the last post you wouldn't catch me out there with that little ice and 30ft of water

What's the difference?

If you are going in you are going in and regardless of how deep it is you should be prepared to get out.

It's not like you instantly plummet through the ice never to be seen again as the movies would have you believe, you have a fair amount of time to get out if you go through and if you are lucky your head won't even go under.

Yeah, sorry no pics this time, I def got to put the camera in the bag.  It was a little scary, but the ice was good and hard.  I was prepared for a cold bath, or as prepped as one can be out there.
