Stormy Kromer?
« on: Dec 19, 2016, 12:48 PM »
I am thinking about getting my dad a Stormy Kromer original hat and a pair of the tough mitts.  I own a hat myself and like it but I am wondering if the tough mitts are as nice as they look?  I know they are expensive but if they are good quality and warm I think he would like the set.  What are your thoughts on them.

The Stormy Kromer is often thought of as a badge of hardy outdoors folks.

Those gloves are not known here.  So, give us a link to those, please.      ;)2

I'm not sure about them, I'd rather see them in person before I judged them.  I will say this much, I wouldn't wear them ice fishing because they'd get soaking wet very easy.

Those Stormy Kromer's look pretty nice, but for Icefishing waterproof is pretty important to me. I have both of these:

And this pair also.

I actually like the cheapo HT mittens best. The rough rubber is way easier to hold onto fish with. And they are easy to just throw off if you need to. I do that a lot when I'm tip up fishing. The Ice Armor mitts are warmer, but a lot harder to get on and off quickly. JMO

I should have added that my dad has not ice fished in several years so the mittens would be more for other outdoor activities.  He doesn't handle the cold nearly as well as he used too which is why he hasn't gone fishing much the past several years.  I bought a new full thermal flipover shelter this year hoping I can get him back into ice fishing.

Way to go Jr.   Good luck getting him out again and make some memories.

In light of the new information, I'm sure the Stormy Kromers would work very well to keep his hands warm.
