looking for good mitts
« on: Dec 27, 2015, 08:46 PM »
My hand have been frozen to many times ,so they go in to memory shock the second they feel cold.
The blood moves out of the fingers to protect the heart.    enough is enough !

I have tried the Canadian goose mitts with those heat packs I  have thrown  in  .
The down after one season moved from the inside of the palm to the back side of the hand ...no good !

Many mitts I have looked at, have gloves inside them......not good .

Thought of getting some heated mitts.... not to good when power runs out ...not good.

What else is out there for -35 to - 50 C

I have had great luck with; Simms Exstream Fold-over Mitts. The windproof fleece is great stuff, washable, warm when wet and holds up great! Not cheap, but worth every penny!

The army surplus store has good ones. Snowmobile mits work great.

I bought a pair of ice armor gloves about 3 years ago and like them a lot. I don't fish with them on, but they keep my hands warm if I'm walking or riding the snowmobile to wherever  I'm fishing. At $35.00 a pair I thought they were pricey, but they work.

I have the Ice Armor gloves and never got cold hands.  The one thing that I do that helps a lot is I wipe my hands dry when they get wet before I put them back in the gloves.  I never used the Striker gloves or mitts but I saw on here some guys were complaining that the stitching was coming loose and breaking on the thumbs.

That's a tough one. I have to keep my hands warm because of arthritis and basically after going full circle I came back to buckskin choppers with ragg wool liners. I always keep a few sham-wow towels with me to keep my hands dry. Works for me ymmv.
