Garmin Striker plus 5 ice flasher
« on: Dec 14, 2018, 09:21 PM »
Does anyone own the Garmin Striker plus 5 ice flasher?
Looking for pros and cons it seems like you get a lot of bang for the buck

I have the older version that doesn't do the quick draw contours.  I like it a lot.

I'm a big fan of 2D sonar vs a flasher since I'm used to that in my boat  I like that you can set waypoints unlike a flasher as well.

The only con that I have encountered is there are more after market accessories made for flashers.
My Setup:  Otter XL sled on a smitty.  10" Strikemaster Lithium 50 Volt auger.  Clam Bigfoot XL 2000 hub.  Garmin Striker 5 Ice Bundle.

The Garmin Striker 5 also has a flasher display option if you prefer that.

With the 2D you just need to remember that the left of the screen is what has happened in the past and the right of the screen is what's happening right now.  So you can see some "history" of how the fish responded to your presentation as well as where they are in relation to your lure at this moment.

for that price why not just go with the marcum m1? I have one and it's amazing.. don't have all the bells and whistles but it's a game changer...

I added another boat to my fleet and needed another fish finder. I went with the striker 5 because it has the flasher option and I can use it in my shack in the winter. So far I really like it.
The more I fish, the less I know about fishing...
Send me a PM if you'd like info about how I built my ice shack

I only use the split screen with the A-scope and it works great. I do not like the flasher.
