Candle Lake - thin ice
« on: Dec 22, 2014, 10:30 PM »
Torch side by Fisher Creek,    Be carefull these holidays.

Email received was..Dec 22, 2014

Riders beware of thin Ice on Fisher Creek. Everyone is ok, just worried about the open water on Fisher Creek just off of Torch lake about 200 yards from beaver damn.... We put up 4 flags around the area, please pass this along to inform all riders.

picture shows a snowmobile submerged and being pulled out of water.

Thought I would pass along.  Happy Holidays.
I'll have mine on ice.

Good info for the snowmobilers out there. The main lake is fine tons of trucks out there this weekend. Some walleye being caught close to dark. Large ice heave going across the lake as well.

Haven't heard of any body going there. Good in the summer for sure. Seems like most people stay in the bay's surrounding all the developments and don't venture too far across the lake. If the weather isn t too bad between Christmas and New Years I'm going to head to the sunken island and purple sands

Right at the entrance to Clarence-Steepbank lakes south of East Trout lake. Kit has rainbows and Ridge has brooks.

Personally I've never been on birchbark lake but I know in the spring there's alot of pike and walleye that spawn further down the creek so I imagine there must be fish in there

Splaker, ridge lk. winter killed two years running, confirmed by serm test netting, don't waste time there. Kit isn't producing like it did 5 years ago but still ok. There was some kind of huge flood event in there a few years ago that messed up the fishing. Hope Ridge recovers soon, nice lake.

Thanks for the info Angus. Never actually been on Ridge. Have fished Kit last couple of winters and have caught a couple each time but nothing too spectacular. Maybe Singh would be a better bet. Never fished that either.

I have heard that there are some nice splake in Ranger Lake just up the road from Heritage Lake.

Does anyone ever fish in Heritage Lake, White Gull Lake or Torch lake through the ice or in open water? ???
I never hear those 3 lakes mentioned on the form. :-\

Have not known of any one I know trying Torch or White Gull. Have tried Ranger a few times but have had better luck for splake at Deer lake. Heritage is ok the odd walleye in summer and winter and lots of small jacks.

Out on Friday (Candle) out for a couple hours, holy hell it was cold, had 5 jack and 1 burbot come in, they were not too hungry, wife missed the one that want the bait, he hung around for the longest time, kept comin back to look at the bait but then left.  Pulled up the lines on the cod.  We went home without a meal.  Next time. ;)
I'll have mine on ice.
