My flats during the day for perch, hit the hole at night. Rode to the hole from my side, not sure the ice is real good by the parking area.

Just a heads up...I was on 3 different lakes this weekend and all had very different thicknesses. ..Huntington is shot 3-5 but very weak ....thinner further out and obviously by the springs and shoreline...other 2 ranged from a solid 8 to 5 ...tricky year with inconsistent ice thickness. .be safe

I guess I'm hanging up my augers for the year. This rain and warm temps just killed what little we had.

At least I got out the four times I did, it's time to get ready for open water.   Be safe for those who will still go out in the colder areas with surviving ice

This weather is so depressing, but on the bright side I was able to get out 4 times as well.  Early January - I thought there would be no local ice this season..

Looks like we are done in our neck of the woods. But will keep the gear out for awhile just in case we have a beautiful polar vortex head our way. Heading up to fish the Niagara River for steelhead next week,hopefully that will ease the pain of a short ice fishing season. Tight lines to all.

AArgh. Its cold outside (22°) and to continue till tomorrow AM; still ice where I fish, but have to work tomorrow! Ouch, I might admit that my season is done, but I won't until I go out in a boat.
Decent year, short, but had fun and a few packages in freezer...

I also believe I'm going to go with a ridgid hammer drill, clam plate, and a 7" mora as my auger next year... getting tired of drilling by hand and don't feel like lugging the gas auger around.

Shellfish, the Hobie's are a cross between kayak and boat. I have a Revo 13 that I got years ago as a demo from KFS, and it is a fantastic fishing machine.   Yes they are expensive (I wouldn't buy one new), but they were made to last.   The Pro Anglers are boats disguised as kayaks. They are big, heavy, and ultra stable.

I upgraded from the ORIGINAL Scrambler XT, and Prowler 15, there is no comparison. When it comes to dealing with the current and wind, the mirage drive makes it easy.   I've even towed other kayaks that were struggling down in Jamica Bay! 

 I too will be getting my kayak out this weekend, getting ready for the striper run in the Hudson and the panfish spawn.

Does anyone know current ice conditions in Sullivan? Anyone went out on ice this week? how thick? Trying to see if there will be 4"+ of ICE this weekend.

as of sunday I walked out onto 5 in the morning in bethel. however by the end of the day it was down to 3 inches! and even throughout the nights since it has NOT been below freezing at all!

thanks kb. the bite was really hot for almost all of the season! and fishing with the lure that I use was the key. on almost every hole I drilled as soon as it would get within 5-8 foot of the bottom on the first drop I would be seeing fish there already! it was so much fun watching the fish come in that fast on my sonar.

well good luck. there is no ice anywhere by me either. upstate there is though. I had a guy that got some of the smalls stop by this morning and he showed me pics from his trip upstate. the landed 5 laker using them up to 28 inches!
