I hit Silver Mine,  today, on ice at 8 AM, off at 5:30 PM. caught two descent pickerel, one nice crappy, and eight nice perch. Over all a pretty slow day fishing, but could not ask for a better day to be out on the ice.

I just did a Little research. Apparently gas augers are allowed on all Lakes except Blue Lake. that's a relief, I thought I was going to have to buy a new drill.

Hello all,

Are there any other lakes in Bear Mountain, Harriman, or Sterling Forest, or Westchester/Putnam where gas augers are prohibited?  Are gas augers permitted on the NYC reservoirs?

Are there any permits required to ice fish or park in these State Parks?

Thanks,

Tom

No gas augers (or electric, for that matter) on NYC Reservoirs.

I was under the impression that you CAN use gas augers now on NYC reservoirs!
No extra gas carried on the ice,and it has to be put on shore after drilling holes.
I had been told this several years ago,so maybe it's changed again!

from their web site    (5) Motorized fishing equipment is prohibited on City Property, including but not limited
to powered ice augers and trolling motors. Automotive type batteries shall not be used
to power lights or fishing equipment.

Thank you very much.  Any other area lakes (other than Blue Lake) where gas augers are prohibited?

Also, any permits needed to ice fish or park in Bear Mountian/Harriman/Sterling Forest?

Thanks,

Tom

Took a ride past Glenmere yesterday. I have never seen so many people out on Glenmere. I went this morning Me & my girlfriend. Got there at 6;45 & the gate was still closed. The sign says it doesnt open until 7;00. Got on the ice around 7;15 & went straight across to catfish rock. Started seting up tipups & got a flag setting up on the 4th tipup. Small bass. Got all of the tipups in Then started catching fish. Jigged up 1 decent perch then caught Bass up to 3.5 pounds A bunch of other decent bass & decent pickeral & a bunch of small ones. Nice day until it started to rain around 2;oo. Picked up everything & called it a day. Had 7 inches of ice. A couple of quads out on the ice. Walt

Fished Yankeetown Pond in Woodstock today from 1:30 till 5:00. Not a single flag and no bites jigging. Moved around a lot, but NOTHING! Has anyone had any luck here?

Tipup- I fished it once during hardwater half heartedly caught nothing.  I recently talked to a gentlemen on the ice who told me that Yankee town pond used to be a good fishery, but has gone down hill due to excessive weed growth in the summer.  If you take a look on google earth/ maps it looks pretty ugly in the summer with weed growth.
