I thought that you guys knew what good eating is? When there that small you dont have to worry about bones and when there fried the tails taste like potato chips. The New York regs are any size and yes there all natives. I fish that stream with my wife and a friend of mine once a year and eat what we catch. Im the only one that fish's it after that one day there left alone until the next year. If you dont care for there size thats fine. I can hadle a ball busting.

Keeping that number of fish from a small native stream like that can do irreparable harm to the population.  It could take years for the population to replenish itself.  I'm not above keeping a few stocked fish for the table, but I try to release all wild fish, especially those from very small streams like the one in the pictures.   Stocked fish are a commodity which are replenished throughout the year while wild fish are a resource that must be given special consideration.  That was a costly fish dinner.  :(

You know you post some pics that you thought were nice and everyone complains or has a rude comment. Im glad to see that you all read what i wrote about those pics. As far as letting those fish grow i have been fishing that stream once a year since i was 7. The size of that stream dictates the size that fish become. I have never seen one in there more than 7 inches. Trout unlimited should be the ones fined by the DEC.  For those of you that have all the nasty comments bugger off. For the rest of you this is a great site and i look forward to meeting  and fishing with some of you this coming season.

why are u guys yelling at him?? if you feel that strong about it then complain about the rules, as long as he followed them then he did nothing wrong. Send the dec the pics(without any names)and tell them how you feel about the fish being taking out at that size.

Why post on a thread that offends you? If you ignore a thread, it will go away sooner or later.

Unless he is there the other 364 days of the year to keep an eye out, he can't be sure that he is the only one who fishes it, can he?

Soem people need to get there heads out of the toilet and actually appreciate some awesome brookies right there without being jealous and snotty....

Actually, I have a pretty nice brookie stream a few miles from my house that I don't tell many folks about for fear of it getting fished beyond recovery.  I probably appreciate these wild fish more than most because wild brookies are a very rare thing in my part of Pennsylvania with all the mine runoff ruining the streams (all of you Trout Unlimited bashers..relax.  I am not a TU member, although they have done some good in my local area with stream cleanup.)  That's why I release all of the wild trout that I catch and have a hard time giving out congratulations for a stringer half-full of 4 inch fish.

Unbelievable.  Stay out of Malibu, Lebowski.
Born to fish, forced to go to work and think about fishing and talk about fishing with coworkers.

Well said.

I fish for little natives in the small mountain streams as well. I never even think about keeping something so small and I don't know why anyone would. I've been all over PA and can catch the natives on reg basis if I want. Barbless hooks and gentle handling are necessary. I really like the colors and hope they are in our streams for a long time to come. Some people are all about taking and when its gone they get mad that they can't catch em.
