quick strike rigs
« on: Nov 11, 2005, 07:55 PM »
I know a lot of people use quick strike rigs on Pike and bigger fish but does anyone use them on Bass, would it be overkill?

The only thing I've caught bass on are waxies and mousies, so as far as I'm concerned, it would be a little overkill!  :)

Always wear clean underwear, cuz ya never know when the paramedics are gonna have to cut your pants off.

In the In-fisherman 06 ice fishing guide they have a whole article on cathcing bass through the ice, they suggest everything from a northland forage fry to a size 3 jigging rapala, so i'm geussing that bass like smaller baits through the ice. ???

My cousin caught a 19 incher on a quickstrike rig with a bluegill.  Would've preferred a pike, but whatever.

Actually, I think a quick-strike is going overboard, as bass dont take the bait like pike do.

Bass don't have teeth-wire is not necessary.  I use a 4 foot leader of 6 or 8 flourocarbon.

I think a quickstrike rig would be a good thing to use. This operation would keep the bass from swallowing the hook and presenting further problems for the fish if being released.

I don't like it here, so I will probably be here for a while.........

i just use light line a number 12 treble and big fatheads for them seems small but bass seem to be lazy in the winter and want a small meal
