Choosing the right rod - link

I find the information about the choke point on spinning rods very interesting and also about the static load on the rod bend.  I often wonder how this applies to short ice fishing rods.  Especially when it comes to the move to the soft responsive quick tips of some rods and the line guide spacing on it.

this is one subject that has never peaked my interest.  sure I tend to use a lighter tip when cranking. ill use a stuffer rod for jigging cover.  that's about as far as I feel the need to worry about it.  I went through the light line faze a couple decades ago.  thats where the rod action is most important. imo  but then again im not near as picky about equipment as most.
