What we use here maybe different then there..  so tread lightly on what I say and ask more about it locally ..for  bait caster type reels I would go for Jason mitchel mackinaw Rods or ht tounge rods extra heavy action..  as for the spinning type reels a heavy or medium heavy ice slammer or even some thing similar in ht ice blue series rods like medium heavy or heavy I am sure your fish get as big if not bigger then ours here in the great lakes..

I use a medium weight ice fishing rod and an old Mitchell 300 or Mitchell Avocet with 8 and 10 lb line.  Haven't broke one off.  New stren super knot green and spiderwire ez clear mono are my two favorite lines and I change it every year.
Smallest laker was 2 lb and largest was 28lb on those set ups.  Dry graphite in the bearings on the line roller or the line gets grooved.
Wishing I was Fishing.

I like a 30 inch or 34 inch rod range with good ol coffee grinder reel with braid 30 pound or so with a mono leader- 15 pound leader is good..
or go big with 25 pound test mono for the biggunz..
