yeah sorry, I meant to follow up with a more helpful post and then got slammed at work. If its multiple black spots at random on the fishes body than it is black spot disease and not characteristic of a certain species. If the fish is flat and gold than its most likely a golden shiner. Come to think of it, its the only bait Iv'e seen to contract black spot. Has a lot to do with their habitat and where they like to spend their time.

For you bait trapping guys, Mardens in Sanford has a bunch of pond pumps in stock, 1000GPH $30-$40 would make a sweet homemade filter.
