Ya, where is an official notice???  Where did you hear that?  If it is cancelled, is it opened statewide?  Need more info and some verification.

consider it a donation to some worthy charities and write it off on your taxes.

They did the right thing. Everyone had the same chance today to win. Let's not forget this is a fundraiser for a very worthy cause and how much work Tom puts into putting this together. It was called off by the Fire Dept not him. I'm sure nobody is more disappointed than Tom.

I dont know about you but im mad about it. Because of a select few people who cant take a few mins and be careful they ruin it for everyone. Pressure ridges change through out the day and always should be checked. Fourwheelers and sleds aren't needed out there anyway this year there simply not enough ice i can walk just as fast as them because they need to keep stopping and checking the ice while i keep motoring along. just my .02

Probably a good idea, it was getting bad out there.

Although I feel bad for those of us that 'travel safe' and would have been just fine on Sunday...

From WCSH:  "The Speed Run on Raymond Beach, which is scheduled for 9 am Sunday, is still on, however."

They cancel the derby but all of the meat heads can still run their sleds?  Awesome.

We had plenty of safe ice this morning, that was not the case after lunch.  There was a strong current under the ice, which I have never seen, and in 3hrs the water temp went up from 31.5 to 32.7!  thats a quick change, the ice was melting from the bottom.  It went bad fast and was a good idea to cancel, people who were smart and constantly checked the ice and drilled holes and stayed away from pressure ridges as we did, were on unsafe ice by mid-afternoon.

I was on 8" or better at the station is that unsafe? No it's safe if people don't push it and fish close to the ridges and the open water.
