Great idea.... my only concern would be if those reels can spin freely enough when the targeted fish takes the bait......... They have to feel absolutely nothing.... especially walleyes.

Very nice-a coat of marine-grade spar varnish(like Helmsman Spar Varnish) and they will look slick! Don`t use regular varnish/polyurethane , it will yellow and is not made for exterior use. Take the clicker outta the fly reels if you haven`t already for better free-spooling. Nice job.

The cover seems to be just for storage and transport..... leave it open while in use.
