When I first started ice fishing i made a spud in my shop...it's 22 years old now and I haven't worn it out yet...
*take 2 pcs. 3/4' black pipe...30"long
*thread 1 end each piece
*take 1 pc same pipe 5" long and weld it to the unthreaded end of one section for a "TEE" handle
*cut a slot in the unthreaded end of the other pc. of pipe about 1/2wide x 3"
*take a piece of 2" x 6" x 1/2" flat stock slide it into the slot...flatten the pipe to the flat stock and weld it in place
*grind the end to a chisle point
*couple the pieces with a 3/4"pipe coupling
*paint it so it won't rust
You're in business with a Bob's original 2 pc. spud bar!
the 2 pc is nice ...it'll fit in your fish trap or car trunk without poking holes in stuff!...I tack welded the pipe coupling to one side so it wouldn't get lost.
