Title: Renewing Waterproofing
Post by: kb on Jan 04, 2020, 11:20 AM
Has anyone had any success renewing the waterproofing on their outer gear?

My striker light suit is beginning to lose it’s waterproofing abilities, and I’d like to renew it.

What did you use, and how did it work?

Thank you.

i use the nikwax. it's a two part system. tech wash and  tx.direct wash in a cleaner and a water proffer. the water proofer leaves a coating in the washer tub. we have a agitator free washer that uses very little water. i mostly wash my everyday striker performance hoodies and every few seasons the ice fishing bibs and parkas.

Yep me too. Use this for all my water proof, washable stuff (ice fishing stuff, goretex waders, etc). Works great and if you follow directions its idiot proof.

Starbrite fabric waterproofing. Available on line or at West marine stores.

This is exactly what I use for all my outerwear: Stryker float suit, open water AFTCO rain suit, snowboarding jacket and bibs, etc. Works nicely.

I've used Nikwax and ReviveX with good results on Gore-Tex and on Mountain Hardware Conduit waterproof breathable jackets and bibs. ReviveX worked a little better than Nikwax on the Conduit. I didn't notice any difference between the two on real Gore-Tex.
