We were out fishing on Grand Lake my partner and I, we were after smelt burbot and whitefish. His tip up went off for burbot so we both ran out of the shack to see what he had. Here's this white fish that swam directly in the loop of the leader and tip up line.. 1" to the left or right he would of missed it or if he was a little bigger he wouldn't of been able to fit. Definetly the weirdest thing and funniest way i've seen a fish HOOK themselves sort of speak!!

I caught a 19" lake trout last year using the same method. Could not believe it.

once caught a sucker while steelhead fishing. my hook got caught on line that was already wrapped around it.

i've seen peoples hook go around a fish and tie in like a loop and bring them up like that. but i have never seen this happen. That hole was just in the exact right spot and the fish was just big enough to get stuck

oh alright I see, I just couldnt figure out the big cut bait and the pile of whitefish, I was thinking you were fishing for something else

well we were after both species Here when burbot come around the whitefish take off!!! So we set tip ups to get them outta there and keep the whities around. Although a burbot on a whitefish light action rod and size 10 hook can be a very good time!!

I know we used to snare a lot of rabbits when I was growing up back in Nova Scotia but I'll be damned if I can remember snaring a whitefish
