saginaw bay
« on: Dec 08, 2007, 05:14 PM »
I took my first trip out on the bay today. we went off of neuman rd. we fished in about 2 feet of water with 4 inches of ice on top. using tear drops and minnows we managed to catch only 2 FISH!. after about 3 hours of fishing we went to hoyles marina and got in the channel which is about 5-6 feet deep. we could see the bottom and there was all kinds of fish coming through, pike, perch, baby walleye everything was coming through but when a big perch came through they were real finnicky about biting the hook. we ended p catching 10 keper perch between 4 guys. not a good start to my ice fishing.

May not have caught the fish you wanted but getting out early December on GOOD ice is awesome!

im not really sure there was so much other fish for them to chase in the hole that it might be a little tricky

I'm heading over to the bay this weekend off Linwood Rd.: I've heard of people walking out a mile and a half already.  Anyone know if thats true?

Guys are taking quads to the crack then crossing on foot.  Crack is usually about a mile out.

I have heard of people getting to about 8 ft of water.

ive been able to get out to 6 feet of water. we did take the atv out there off of newbergon which is in pinconning. you cant go out a mile and a half yet because there is open water from when an ice cutter came through as of last week. but you might be able to now. we had about 7 inches of ice in 6 feet of water. you looking to go get some walleye?
