Lake St. clair ?
« on: Feb 08, 2018, 07:23 AM »
Never been to st. clair. Thinking of making a trip up there in a few weeks. Can you give me a idea on what areas to fish and where not to go. What to expect, how far out on the ice can or do you need to go. I'm on foot.  How's the ice thickness. Bait shop locations. And info will be appreciated. Thanks

My advice is go to the "Lake St. Clair Metropark". It will be a fee for the day ($10) but it has plenty of parking and it is convenient. "Sportmen's Direct" is right outside of the park and will have everything you need plus some advice if you ask them.

Lake St. Clair Metropark: 31300 Metro Pkwy, Harrison Charter Township, MI 48045

Sportsmen's Direct: 38989 Jefferson Ave, Harrison Charter Township, MI 48045

Good luck!

-Kyle

I call lakeside bait and tackle they have a hot line fishing report updated twice a week. I was there last sat out of metro 12 in plus of nice clear ice. Fishing was really tough. Our first time. It was a nice lake would like to go again in march.   Mark

I fished off of Cotton Road today. Only one keeper (9 in) but I did not have my power auger, only my 7 inch arm breaker Lazer so I did not move around alot.

There is a good 20 inches of ice.

Caught lot of small perch and a few rock bass.

To get to Cotton Rd take 21 mile road off of I-94 go to the end (lake) turn left, you will see the sign. Turn right to get to the bait store off of 21 mile.

Selfridge Air base launch is close by also another good choice.

Heard that Metro Breach has been producing this week, I should have went there. There is an exit off of I-94 for Metro. As stated above you have to pay to park.
